Interventions Alliance was delighted to recently host Lord Ponsonby, Shadow Home Office Minister, to its CFO Activity Hub in Chatham.
Lord Ponsonby has a keen interest in efforts to tackle re-offending and improve the criminal justice system. He has also served as a magistrate for nearly twenty years.
The CFO Activity Hubs provide a safe, supportive space for individuals on community or post-prison licence to reintegrate back into their communities. Support at the Hub is tailored to each person, considering their individuals circumstances and needs. It includes a holistic range of social, creative and group activities, as well as interaction with positive role models and peers.
Being at the heart of our local communities, the hubs involve local organisations and community representatives to increase the availability of support for participants and so maximise their chances of successful resettlement.
During the visit, Lord Ponsonby spoke with participants and colleagues in Chatham, and observed activities designed to support our participants in building their confidence and discussing their needs and experiences.
Commenting on the visit, Lord Ponsonby said: “I was very pleased to visit Chatham CFO Activity Hub today. I was particularly pleased to hear how the Hub works with multiple other agencies to help the participants grow in confidence and regulate their lives so they can move towards self-sufficiency and make a contribution to society.”
Amy Rice, Executive Director of Interventions Alliance (Seetec’s Education and Justice arm), added:
“It was a genuine pleasure to host Lord Ponsonby. We were delighted to have the opportunity to show him the valuable work our CFO Activity Hub team delivers to support people who have encountered the justice system, on their journeys with us to turn their lives around.
“Each person we support has unique experiences and needs, and our expert staff offer a supportive and welcoming environment that can play a hugely important role in helping participants to reconnect with their communities and build better futures for themselves and their loved ones.”
